oh, mary!

lyceum theatre

Oh, Mary! reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln as a brash, cockney-accented, alcoholic, and theatrical First Lady obsessed with social status and her own "star" image, while her husband, the closeted president, struggles with the Civil War and personal secrets. The play blends historical figures with outrageous fiction, satirizing politics, marriage, and gender roles through rapid-paced, politically biting humor. Mary schemes, manipulates, and schemes again, while Abraham faces mounting pressure, culminating in a chaotic, laugh-out-loud climax.
